Rio de la Plata, the 30.01.2004Our journey with the backpack by Uruguay of 21.11.03 to 21.12.03.We that are Nicole and Doreen from Berlin.
In Buenos Aires we remained one night and drove on the next day with the Buquebus=Faehre to Colonia into Uruguay. In scarcely 3 hr. achieved we, comfortably and favorably, our actual destination.
It is a nice small small town with a beautiful old part of town. Used we have Colonial, which we recommend much can they are comfortably, inexpensive, cleanly and not far from the port and bus station in the lodging. Here we remained 3 nights.
To 26.11. We did not drive with the bus to Mercedes.Hier continued to live we in the hotel Colon for 2 Naechte.Die youth hostel are recommended, except one like it very loud.
There are beautiful liegewiesen at the river Rio Negro, where one can also bathe.
Paysandu is visited on one day, but a walk is worth raus from the city. On 29.11. we continued to drive to Salto. Since the bus station lies very outside, one should take a bus in the center. We lived for 2 nights in the hotel Argentina.Salto are a quirlige city, in which it goes so correctly loosely in the evening. Actually we wanted from Salto to the Thermen=Termas del Arapey, but there are hardly bus connections. Said it goes back more exactly only one bus and only on the next day.
There we lived for 2 nights in the hotel Italiano.Es are very, very simple and rather down-come however very inexpensive.
In Paso de toros does not give it loosely a bus station. On 3.12. we drove to Punta del Este and lived in one of the few inexpensive accommodations of the youth hostel El Castillo near the bus station. Punta del Este is a glaring contrast to interior multistoried buildings, Casinos and many more expensive than elsewhere.
We us for a few days (4) a car to rent decided here and simply times purely in the country to drive-driving those roads are usually very well and well out-described. On 4.12. it went then with the car of far over La Barra and San Carlos on lonely roads and through the width of the country to Rocha.
The Palmenhaine would not be without car for us to reach be-being those flattens with meadows durchzogene landscape changes suddenly stands on the pastures palms. On the way back again past at the meadows. Now and then one met times a native one to horse. We visited still the old away = Fortalezza Santa Teresa.
It is a correctly nice oertchen with marvelous Menschen.es is very original and calm. Here seems the time stand to have remained. However exhausted lucky over the many new impressions we were in the evening back in Rocha. On 6.12. we drove to La Paloma to the Atlantic in order to bathe. Well to was the sea too coldly however the beach was deserted super bathes and. At noon we drove far to haechsten mountain Uruguay`s to the Cerro Catedral with 513m.Die travel went through a beautiful mountain landscape. In the evening we were again in Rocha and still strolled over the "Weihnachtsmarkt". To 7.12. We drove toward Minas and went sometime it on the Ruta Panoramica.Auf of this rod arrived we at the small wasserfall Cascades de Aqua del Penitente. over stairs one arrives oneself at the Wasserfall.In the small wasserbecken can one briefly erfrischen.
It is a 493m high mountain on a 35m high summit cross stands. At the foot of the zuckerhutes there is a small zoo which we regarded. It resident only animals in Uruguay are domestic. From here it went far to Punta Ballena. This place is well-known by the Casa Pueblo=schneeweisses self-willed house. It continued to go to Punta del Este again into the youth hostel El Castillo for 2 nights. To 8.12 we drove to Maldonado to shoppen.Was should we make it rained the whole day at noon had we the car to again deliver. On 9.12. we, again with the bus, drove to Pirapolis.Wir lived for one night in the youth hostel Anton Grassl (only with youth ago mountain from white possible).
It loht the mountain Cerro del Ingles to mount, because from above one does not have a beautiful Blick.Es gives also a sessellift however drove. In the evening one should not miss the grandiosen sunset at the Rio de la Plata. On 10.12. we drove to Montevideo and lived in the hotel Solis in Altstadt.Der bus station are far remove one should a city bus or a taxi take itself. The hotel was cleanly, central and guenstig.Wir remained 5 nights. Montevideo is a pulsating city also to many cars and penalties. 2 days were lazy we at the beach of Pocitos at the Rio de la Plata. There are many beautiful old houses in Montevideo. The old part of town is marvelous and it becomes so correctly alive in the evening. Montevideo is to be visited well to foot. To 15.12 we drove again to Colonia.Am 16,12 drove we with the Buquebus back to Buenos Aires, where we remained the last 5 nights. To 21.12.03 we flew back to Berlin. That was our travel route. Uruguay is worth a journey. It is a beautiful country with many nice humans. With the penalties one comes well, reliably and favorably from city to city. Only in the country we did not come purely with the penalties, the-half took ourselves we the car. We had to be often the feeling the only tourists. Is everything without Hektik refuelling the ideal country over correctly peace and strength. Our Spanish knowledge leaves to be desired, but humans were always endeavor us to help and with hands and feet went it then completely well. With English one comes into Uruguay not far. We did not have travel checks of American express and it were a problem them to be redeemed. Uruguay is ideals the tourist country for women with the backpack travels. We were always nicely treated and were not troubled.
Insgesamte travel expenses inclusive flight per person approx. 1300Euro we to be pleased others on this country to have made attentive.
